After walking around the auto show in Frankfurt for 8 hours I've come up with my top choices for new cars of interest at Frankfurt:

Aston Martin DBS which replaces the Vanquish. Sorry but the first 5 years of production has been pre-sold. |

Porsche 911 GT2 - that's my color - I'll take it. |

Chevrolet Volt - very exciting looking hybrid-electric car due to go into production in 2 years (2010). Beautiful display. more info: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chevrolet_Volt |

BMW 1 series coupe - a high quality, light weight sports coup at a reasonable price. On sale in USA in 2008 for under $30,000.

BMW M3 (now it has a V8 and a "fancy" carbon fiber roof) |

Artega GT - a new German auto manufacturer - uses 300 hp Volkswagen V6 mounted behind the driver. If Ferrari made a modern Dino I'd expect it to be much like this - except it would be red of course (instead of German "grand prix" white"). Reviews of this car have excellent - hopefully it will eventually make it to the USA. Price Euro 63,000 + tax. More info at http://www.artega.de/en/index.php?a=4 |

Jaguar XF sedan - replaces the "S type" - Jaguar needs this to be a hit. (disclaimer - this is not my photo - mine didn't come out well) |

Fiat 500 - a small jewel - like the Mini Cooper - exceptionally nicely done interior, funky exterior - a fun toy we may unfortunately never see in the USA. Originally produced from 1957 to 1975 during which time over 3.6 million were produced it is an automotive icon much like the VW Beetle, Mini Cooper, and the Model T Ford. The first years production of 60,000 (2008) sold out within 3 weeks of going on sale. Production will double for 2009. |

New "bigger" 4 door model of the Mini Cooper called the "Clubman". Expanding the Mini brand. Will a Moke SUV be next? More pics: http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2008-mini-clubman/327745/ |

Peugeot Flux show car - a modern interpretation of the Dune Buggy |

Mitsubishi Lancer EVO (Evolution) - this looks a quite a lot better than it's competitor, the unfortunately re-styled, Subaru WRX. |
